Founder & Chief Executive, GiftDevInnovation

— Gift.

When we started GiftDevInnovation, the goal wasn't to be the biggest development shop — it was to be the one clients didn't have to double-check. Too many businesses have been burned by software that looked finished in a demo and fell apart in production.

Every project we take on has to be something we'd be comfortable running our own business on.

The second half of what we do came from watching what happens after a launch. People would come to us with software another firm had built and disappeared from — no backups, expired certificates, an out-of-date library sitting there waiting to be exploited, and nobody who could find the login details. Building something well and then walking away from it is not delivery, so we made maintenance part of the job rather than an afterthought.

That's why our process leads with research, why our contracts are written in plain language, and why support doesn't end at launch. We're a small team on purpose — big enough to cover design, engineering, security and support end to end, small enough that you're never talking to someone who doesn't know your project.

If you're building something that matters to your business, I'd like to hear about it.

What guides my decisions

Three principles I hold the team to

  • 01

Say what you'll build, then build it

Scope changes are normal — silent scope changes aren't. We flag them the moment they happen.

  • 02

    Security is not an add-on

It gets designed in from the first architecture decision, not patched in after a scare.

  • 03

You should be able to leave us

Clean documentation, no vendor lock-in, and every account in your name. Trust is earned by making it easy to stay, not hard to go.
